Patrick Kane loves playing against his hometown team.
The Buffalo native recorded three points, including his seventh career goal against his boyhood team in overtime to hand the Sabres a 4-3 loss to the Blackhawks Thursday night in Chicago.
The Sabres took the lead on three separate occasions only for the Blackhawks to come back each time.
Marcus Foligno opened the scoring with his sixth of the season at 7:21 of the first period.
Buffalo would take a 2-1 lead in the second period after a power-play goal from Kyle Okposo.
Jack Eichel gave the Sabres a 3-2 advantage with a power-play goal at 1:10 in the third period.
But a late goal from the Blackhawks’ Artem Anisimov set the stage for Kane’s heroics in the extra session.
The Sabres are back at home Saturday in a matinee against the Jets. Live coverage gets under way at 12:30 PM on MSG-Buffalo.
