Live Game Coverage Begins at 12:30 PM on MSG+

HOLIDAY MATINEE IN BOSTON

The Islanders will battle the Bruins in Boston’s annual Martin Luther King Day afternoon game. This tilt is the second of three meetings between the two clubs, as the Isles doubled-up the B’s, 4-2, on Dec. 20 at TD Garden. The Islanders split this past weekend’s back-to-back set, winning 5-2 Friday against Florida and losing 7-4 in Carolina Saturday. Meanwhile, the Bruins have won two of their last three contests, including Saturday’s 6-3 win over the Flyers.

TAVARES WITH FIVE IN TWO

John Tavares has turned his game up a notch, scoring two goals Saturday in Carolina after recording a hat trick Friday vs. the Panthers. Tavares picked up his 33rd multi-goal game, and it marked the second time in his career that he has scored five goals in a two-game stretch. No. 91 now has 16 goals and 16 assists for 32 points in 41 games this season.

MARCHAND SCORCHING HOT

Bruins’ leading scorer Brad Marchand turned in a huge game Saturday against the Flyers, netting two goals while adding three helpers for five points. Marchand has 43 points in 46 games, including seven goals and five assists in seven games in January. In their first meeting, however, Marchand was held of the scoresheet by the Islanders.

LEDDY STREAKING

Quick-moving backliner Nick Leddy extended his point streak to three games with an assist Saturday vs. the Hurricanes. Leddy has two goals and three assists in that three-game stretch, and has seven goals with 14 assists for 21 points this season, including an assist in the first matchup with Boston.

WATCH OUT FOR PASTRNAK

Bruins’ leading goal-scorer David Pastrnak has suddenly been picking up assists in bunches, including two vs. the Flyers Saturday. Pastrnak has seven assists in his past five games, while still leading the B’s in goals with 19, despite not lighting the lamp in 13 games.
