Monday afternoon the Sabres will host the Dallas Stars at KeyBank Center for the first of two games the clubs will play against each other this season. They will wrap up the season series in Dallas on Jan. 26. The Sabres will try and end a two-game slide following Friday’s 5-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, while the Stars have alternated wins and losses over the past five games and are coming off a 5-4 loss to the Minnesota Wild.
Center Ryan O’Reilly remains hot, as he picked up an assist Friday against Carolina, giving him a goal and six assists in January. O’Reilly now has eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points in only 32 games this season and has 13 power play points along with two game-winning goals.

GIO ON THE GO
While Buffalo’s top skaters have started to produce, complementary scorers such as Brian Gionta have also started to contribute, which is a good sign as we enter the second half of the season. Gionta scored Friday vs. the Canes, giving him two goals in his past four games. Gionta now has nine goals with 10 assists for 19 points this season.
