Tonight, the Islanders host the Dallas Stars for the first of two games the clubs play this season. This tilt will mark the first with Doug Weight behind the Isles’ bench as the new interim head coach, with Jack Capuano being fired on Tuesday. New York returns home tonight after a three-game road trip, which concluded with a 4-0 win over the Boston Bruins. Meanwhile, the Stars snapped a two-game losing streak Tuesday against the Rangers, edging the Blueshirts 7-6 in an extraordinary high-scoring affair.

QUOTABLE

“I have to forge forward for these guys, I have to be positive and prepared to work. I plan on doing that. All I want to do is help these guys, these coaches and these players get in a position in March, so that these games are meaningful. We’ve got that feeling going down our arms, that tingle that we’re in the hunt.” – Coach Doug Weight on leading the Isles the rest of the way.
