New York, NY (October 30, 2013) – To honor the 54th anniversary of the goalie mask in the National Hockey League and in the spirit of Halloween, MSG Network will telecast “Masked Men” presented by Visa, a marathon of programming dedicated to goaltenders and their masks, on Thursday, October 31 starting at noon. A full schedule is included below.

The “Masked Men” marathon will consist of episodes of MSG Original programs that feature goalies, including an all-new episode of “The Game 365” with Rangers All-Star goalie Henrik Lundqvist. Additional episodes of “The Game 365,” “MSG ProFiles” and “Halls of Fame” will feature Mike Richter, Eddie Giacomin, Martin Brodeur and Ryan Miller, and “10 to One” will count down the games’ greatest goalies.

Throughout the day, MSG will also telecast short segments featuring Lundqvist, Islanders’ goaltenders Evgeni Nabokov and Kevin Poulin, the Devils’ Martin Brodeur and Cory Schneider, and the Sabres’ Ryan Miller as they talk about everything from their first mask and the designs they use today to some of the hardest shots they’ve ever used their masks to stop.

The marathon lineup will be followed by complete coverage of the Rangers-Sabres game from Madison Square Garden, including the “Visa Rangers Game Night” pregame show at 6:30 p.m., live game action at 7:00 p.m., and the “Mercedes Rangers Postgame Show” and “Rangers Extra” immediately afterwards.

Following coverage of the game, MSG will air the 2009 NHL Network documentary 50 Years Behind The Mask, featuring a look back at the night of November 1, 1959 when legendary Montreal Canadiens goaltender Jacques Plante revolutionized his position – and the sport – by donning a face mask in a game. The program draws upon archival footage and interviews with Plante’s contemporaries to tell the story of that transformational night.

Viewers can go to to participate in a “Name That Mask” challenge, view a photo history of the goalie mask, and watch the “Hockey Night Live” crew’s picks of the best mask ever and a special “5 for Fischler” as  Stan Fischler gives his take on the mask.
