    MSG to Telecast 70 Regular Season New York Knicks Games

    Six Preseason Games Tip Off the Schedule Starting Thursday, October 11

    New York, NY (October 2, 2012) – MSG will telecast 70 games during the New York Knickerbockers’ 2012-13 regular season, including the Knicks’ home opener against the NBA World Champion Miami Heat from Madison Square Garden on Friday, November 2 at 8:00 p.m. The schedule also includes all six of the Knicks’ preseason games starting Thursday, October 11 at 7:00 p.m. when New York faces Washington in the nation’s capital. A complete schedule is included below.

    In addition to the home opener versus the Heat, the first month of MSG’s Knicks telecasts will feature a total of 13 games, including eight matchups against 2011-12 playoff teams: Philadelphia 76ers (11/4 – 12:00 p.m., 11/5 – 7:00 p.m.); Dallas Mavericks (11/9 – 7:30 p.m., 11/21 – 8:30 p.m.); Orlando Magic (11/13 – 7:00 p.m.); San Antonio Spurs (11/15 – 8:30 p.m.); Memphis Grizzlies (11/16 – 9:30 p.m.); and Indiana Pacers (11/18 – 12:00 p.m.).

    MSG will also carry the Knicks’ full six-game preseason schedule, including games against the Boston Celtics at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY. (10/20 – 7:30 p.m.) and the 76ers at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, NY (10/22 – 7:00 p.m.).

    Knicks game telecasts on MSG will be preceded by the 30-minute pregame show “Visa Knicks Game Night” and followed by the “Ford Knicks Postgame Show.” All telecasts will also include the “Delta Halftime Report.”

    Mike Breen, the league’s preeminent play-by-play announcer, will return courtside with long-time partner, Knicks analyst and NBA Hall of Famer Walt “Clyde” Frazier. Knicks telecasts on MSG will also include courtside reporter Tina Cervasio and Jill Martin as feature reporter and host of halftime’s “A New York Minute.” Al Trautwig will serve as host of Knicks telecasts for home games and Bill Pidto will handle host responsibilities for road games. Alan Hahn returns for his second season as a Knicks studio analyst.

    New York Knicks basketball on MSG is produced by Spencer Julien and directed by Howie Singer. Daniel Ronayne is the executive vice president and general manager for MSG Networks, Jeff Filippi is senior vice president and executive producer, and Kevin Meininger serves as senior coordinating producer, remote productions.

    As the exclusive local television home of the New York Knicks, New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, Buffalo Sabres, New York Liberty and New York Red Bulls, and the official regional sports networks of the New York Giants, MSG Networks telecasts over 400 live professional games per year. MSG Networks also telecasts 150 live college basketball games and over 40 live college football games from top national conferences (SEC, Big 12, Big East, Pac 12, Conference USA), as well as horse racing, boxing and award-winning original programming. In 2012, MSG Networks earned 16 New York Emmy Awards, including 14 for MSG – tops in the New York region for the third year in a row – and two for MSG+. Over the past five years, MSG Networks has totaled 77 New York Emmy Awards, including 69 for MSG – also the most of any New York station or network in that time – and eight for MSG+.
