    Rangers Announce 2014-15 Schedule


    Home Opener on October 12 vs. Toronto

    NEW YORK, June 22, 2014 – The New York Rangers will open the 2014-15 season on the road against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday, Oct. 9. The Blueshirts will play their season opener on the road for the seventh consecutive year. Following two road contests, the Rangers will return to New York to play their home opener at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, Oct. 12 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. New York will play its home opener against an Original Six opponent for the fourth time in the last five seasons, and will open its home schedule against Toronto for the third time during that span.

    The Rangers will play a total of 30 games against Metropolitan Division opponents this season. The Blueshirts will face the Islanders and Carolina five times apiece, and will play four games apiece against Columbus, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Washington. New York will play three games against each of its eight Atlantic Division opponents, and will face off against each of the 14 Western Conference teams twice during the season.

    The schedule features 13 back-to-back sets, including home-and-home matchups against division opponents Philadelphia (Nov. 28 at Philadelphia, Nov. 29 at MSG) and Carolina (Dec. 20 at Carolina, Dec. 21 at MSG). Fourteen of the Rangers’ first 21 games will be played at MSG. The Blueshirts will have a season-high, four-game homestand on four separate occasions – from Oct. 12 vs. Toronto to Oct. 19 vs. San Jose; from Oct. 27 vs. Minnesota to Nov. 5 vs. Detroit; from Jan. 29 vs. Montreal to Feb. 4 vs. Boston; and from Feb. 19 vs. Vancouver to Feb. 26 vs. Arizona. New York’s longest road trip of the season is a five-game stretch from Mar. 4 at Detroit to Mar. 14 at Buffalo. The Rangers’ busiest months of the season will be November and March, when the team will play 15 games in each month. Ten of the Blueshirts’ 15 contests in November are at home. The Rangers will play more home games on a Sunday (10 games) than any other day of the week during the season. New York will also play eight home games on a Monday, seven on a Tuesday, four on a Wednesday, five on a Thursday, one on a Friday, and six on a Saturday during the season.

    Starting times for all contests at MSG will be 7:00 P.M., except for the following dates: Sun., Oct. 19 vs. San Jose (5:00 P.M.); Wed., Nov. 5 vs. Detroit (8:00 P.M.); Sun., Nov. 9 vs. Edmonton (6:00 P.M.); Wed., Nov. 19 vs. Philadelphia (8:00 P.M.); Wed., Feb. 4 vs. Boston (8:00 P.M.); Sun., Feb. 8 vs. Dallas (5:00 P.M.); Sun. Mar. 15 vs. Florida (5:00 P.M.); Wed., Mar. 18 vs. Chicago (8:00 P.M.); Sun. Mar. 22 vs. Anaheim (7:30 P.M.); and Sun. Mar 29 vs. Washington (3:00 P.M.).
