On December 20, 2007 Pittsburgh and Duke met in a battle of unbeatens at The Garden. Duke took an early 16-point lead and were up by 13 points with 16:31 left in the game. However, Pittsburgh battled back and took the game to overtime.

Pitt was playing shorthanded though as big-man DeJaun Blair fouled out and Mike Cook suffered a knee injury. That opened things up for Brooklyn native Levance Fields. With 16 seconds left and Pittsburgh down two, Fields cross-overed a Duke defender and hit a step-back 3-pointer to give Pitt the lead and the win.
