In a battle of two of the best guards, Ray Allen’s Connecticut Huskies met Allen Iverson’s Georgetown Hoyas in 1996 Big East championship game. Georgetown led by 11 points with just under five minutes remaining, and it looked like it was over for UCONN. Then, the Huskies scored the next 10 points, but still trailed by one with seconds left.
Enter Ray Allen. Allen drove right, with Iverson on his hip, and went up in the air and threw up an off-balanced shot that bounced around the rim before going in. Iverson went right down the court to try and regain the lead, but Georgetown’s final shots came up empty and UCONN emerged victorious.
