Defenseman leads AHL rookies with eight goals

UNIONDALE, NY (December 5, 2014) – The New York Islanders announced today that defenseman Ryan Pulock has been recalled under emergency conditions from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League. The club also placed defenseman Travis Hamonic on injured reserve, retroactive to December 2.

Pulock, 20, leads all American Hockey League rookies with eight goals this season. The Dauphin, Manitoba native’s 13 points lead all Sound Tigers defensemen through 20 games.

The Islanders selected Pulock in the first round, 15th overall, of the 2013 National Hockey League Draft. He scored 63 points (23 goals, 40 assists) in 66 games as captain of the Brandon Wheat Kings last season, his fourth in the Western Hockey League.

Pulock was named to the WHL East First All-Star Team in 2011-12 and 2013-14. He represented Canada at the 2012 Under-18 World Junior Championships, scoring two points (one goal, one assist) in six games to help the club earn a bronze medal.
