Clyde has been a fashion icon and the coolest man in New York City for over 40 years now. As a life-long Knicks fan, I’ve been admiring Clyde’s style for as long as I can remember.
In January of 2011, Clyde changed the suit game forever with his now iconic cow suit. This suit is so fly that it was quickly immortalized with its very own bobble-head figure. The cow suit is hands-down the best thing Clyde – or anyone on earth – has ever worn. Nothing will ever be as fly as the cow suit.
This bovine ensemble inspired me to start the blog ClydeSoFly.com, where I capture and grade every suit the Living Legend wears for each game that he calls on MSG. After writing my blog for the past two seasons, I can honestly say that Clyde rarely disappoints.
In honor of Clyde, I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorite looks from past seasons.
Since nothing can ever beat the cow suit, I have left it off the list. It is the undisputed king of the suit jungle.
So here are my Top-10 post-cow suits:
10. Percolating in Paisley
Stylin’ and profilin’! Clyde is known to have a penchant for “unusual combinations.” This funky red and purple paisley jacket combined with a flashy orange shirt certainly qualifies.
9. Making Noise in Turquoise
Slashing and dashing! Clyde brings some razzle dazzle in this neon turquoise jacket, with a matching tie and pocket square. The silky lavender shirt really ties the whole look together. I believe the kids today would refer to this look as “on fleek.”
8. Unleashing the Orange
Real men wear orange! Clyde rocked this orange-on-orange look for the first time when the Knicks went to Los Angeles to face the Lakers earlier this year. As a Syracuse University alumnus, I might just be a sucker for orange, but this look has quickly become one of my all-time favorites.
7. Slicing and Dicing in Silver
Clyde keeps it both classy and flashy in this silver blazer with black spots. This ensemble reminds me of champagne bubbles, so it’s appropriate that Clyde wore this effervescent suit for a New Years Eve game against the Clippers.
6. The Matrix
Dramatic and emphatic! This is probably my favorite non-animal print suit in Clyde’s closet. The green pattern is reminiscent of an old-school DOS computer screen. Note that he chose the same tie and pocket square combo from his orange-on-orange extravaganza. This suit looks like it’s trying to suck Clyde back into The Matrix. So fly!
5. Camouflage Watercolor
Bounding and astounding! Clyde first wore this stunner for the 2015 NBA Slam Dunk contest, where he did a phenomenal job as a judge. While I have no idea what this pattern is supposed to be, I am pretty sure no one else on earth can pull this off.
4. Feasting & Beasting in Tiger Stripes
Clyde has the eye of the tiger, so it’s only natural for him to own two different versions of a tiger suit. The darker version earns some bonus points for its use of two different pocket squares.
3. The Leopard
Shrewd, clever and slick! Clyde exudes feline quickness in this leopard print suit. He wears this big cat to perfection, with bonus points for the floral patterned tie and pocket square.
2. The Zebra
Striving and thriving! What’s black and white and fly all over? Zebra Clyde! The Living Legend brings some synergy and energy to this sensational zebra ensemble with a black shirt and white tie.
1. Moo-vin’ and Groovin’
Grinning and winning! The only thing that could ever come close to the original cow suit is this new, red version. Talk about fire and desire!
