Sabres vs. Canucks Tonight: What To Watch For

BUFFALO SABRES (1-1-1) AT VANCOUVER CANUCKS (3-0-0)

COVERAGE BEGINS AT 9:30 PM ON MSG WESTERN NEW YORK

CAN O’REILLY STAY HOT?

With Jack Eichel and Evander Kane out of the lineup, Ryan O’Reilly has stepped up big time, registering five points (3 goals, 2 assists) in the last two games for the Sabres. O’Reilly has registered a point in his last eight road games, dating back to last season, racking up seven goals and six assists.

MILLER OUT FOR CANUCKS, MARKSTROM IN

Starting goalie Ryan Miller has missed the last two games for Vancouver with an injury and backup Jacob Markstrom will get the start tonight against the Sabres. Markstrom won both those games he’s started this year, allowing four goals on 46 shots. Robin Lehner will once again get the start for Buffalo.

KILLING IT

The Sabres have killed all nine penalties through the first three games, one of three teams in the league to have not allowed a power-play goal this season. On the flip side, the Canucks have not scored a power-play goal through their first three games (all wins), going 0-for-10 with the man advantage.

POWERING UP

The extra attention Dan Byslma has been giving to the power play in practice is paying off, as the Sabres have notched a goal with the man advantage in each of their first three games. Buffalo has scored four goals in 16 PP opportunities, two each by Matt Moulson and O’Reilly.
