The Devils return to action tonight, facing the Pittsburgh Penguins at Prudential Center to round out a home-and-home set that started with a 4-1 Penguins win in Pittsburgh on Friday. This will be the third of five meetings this season between the Penguins and Devils, with the Penguins winning the first two contests.
Friday’s win over the Devils helped the Penguins continue their sensational month of December, as they have recorded at least one point in 11 of the 12 games they have played this month. The Penguins are 9-1-2 in December, which included a seven-game winning streak from Dec. 1-Dec. 14.
PALMIERI PRODUCING AGAIN
After scoring a career-high 30 goals last season, Kyle Palmieri has fired home only six goals this year. Despite his low output, Palmieri has scored in back-to-back games including a goal against Pitt on Friday. Palmieri now has four points (two goals, two assists) in his past four games and has nine points in 12 games this month.
CROSBY ON PACE
Since Crosby has been the NHL’s top player after missing the beginning of the season recovering from a concussion. Crosby leads the NHL with 24 goals and currently ranks third in scoring with 38 points – however Crosby has produced these numbers in only 29 games played this season.
John Moore has now gotten on the scoresheet in two straight games and three of the past five contests after tallying an assist on the Devils lone goal Friday against Pittsburgh. The Chicago native now has five goals and eight assists for 13 points, leaving him only six points short of his career high of 19, set last season.
