BOSTON BRUINS (18-15-4) @ BUFFALO SABRES (13-13-8)
BATTLE IN THE ATLANTIC
Tonight, the Buffalo Sabres host the Boston Bruins in an Atlantic Division matchup at KeyBank Center. This will be the third of four games the clubs play this season, as they meet again on Saturday in Boston to round out the season series. The Sabres defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 on Tuesday, while the Bruins fell 4-3 to the red-hot Columbus Blue Jackets.
Jack Eichel busted out of his slump in a big way, as he scored a goal and added a power-play assist in Tuesday’s 4-3 win over Detroit. Eichel now has six goals and four assists in 13 games this season, including two goals and three assists on the power play.
KANE MAKIN’ IT RAIN
Left wing Evander Kane scored two goals, with the second serving as the game-winner against Detroit. This is exactly the December the Sabres organization wanted to see, as Kane potted eight goals with two assists for 10 points in 12 games.
Bruins forward David Pastrnak had a sensational start to the season and currently leads the team in goals with 19. Pastrnak however, had an elbow procedure to remove an inflamed bursa sac, and since his return, he has failed to produce a point in three games. This leaves Pasternak without any points in four straight tilts.
HEALTHY BODIES COMING
While Ryan O’ Reilly will be sidelined for several weeks, forward Tyler Ennis continues to skate on his own and hopes to return to practice in the next 7-10 days according to coach Dan Bylsma. Ennis has missed the last 22 games with a groin injury, tallying a goal and an assist in 12 games this season.
