Chris Weidman Joins MSG Networks

New York, NY (November 2, 2017) – MSG Networks announced today that UFC star and former middleweight champion Chris Weidman will join the network as a special guest contributor. The Baldwin, NY native and current Long Island resident is a lifelong New York Sports fan, and has previous on-air experience with Fox as an MMA correspondent. Weidman will make numerous appearances as a contributor and on-air talent on multiple platforms for MSG Networks including MSG, MSG+,, and social media channels in the coming months.

“I’m a born and raised Long Island kid that has never left,” said Weidman. “I have so much pride in being a New Yorker and I’m a big New York Sports fan so to have the opportunity to work for MSG Networks is a dream come true for me. I can’t wait to get going.”

Weidman, a former Hofstra University All-American wrestler, shocked the world when he stepped into the UFC Octagon in 2013 and knocked out the legendary Anderson Silva, who was regarded as one of the best MMA fighters of all-time, to claim the middleweight championship. Weidman, affectionately known as “The All-American”, went on to defend his middleweight title three consecutive times through 2015 including a rematch with the famed Silva. The Long Island native played an integral role in legalizing mixed martial arts in New York State after decades of debate and fought on the historic UFC 205 card at Madison Square Garden in 2016. Since the legalization in New York Weidman has fought in his home state on three separate occasions with his most recent victory taking place in his own backyard at the Nassau Coliseum. He currently holds an impressive 14-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC record and is ranked #5 in the UFC middleweight division.
