Hall’s Snub Not Going to Deter These Devils

The NHL’s 3 Stars Of the Month: Minnesota’s Eric Staal, Pittsburgh’s Evgeni Malkin and Vegas’ Reilly Smith are all very deserving.

But maybe John Hynes was onto something with the “Devils vs. The World” T-shirts.

Taylor Hall scored at least a point in every game he’s played in February. His point scoring streak hit 22 games in a row after a win against Malkin and the Penguins on Feb 27. After the streak hit 23 games, Cory Schneider summed it up perfectly.

“This isn’t some sort of fake second assist streak,” said he Devils goaltender. “He’s been directly involved in most, if not all [of the points during his streak], so I think it’s a testament to how good he’s been and what he’s meant to our team.”

Maybe, he was the 4th Star?

At first glance, Patrick Maroon seems like he’ll be a perfect fit with the Devils. But he seems like he’d be a perfect fit anywhere. Easy going, easy to play with and can play in any situation.

Not many fourth-liners are on the first unit of the power play, but he played on a line with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl in Edmonton, and can play on the first line too.

Maroon’s best line in his postgame interview in Florida was comparing the Oilers top line to the Devils entire group, going on to say “This whole team is fast – I’m just going to go wide and let them fly and I’ll catch up with them. These guys are so good. I’m so happy to be here.”

Next up – Carolina in Raleigh on Friday and then the Devils first look at the Vegas Golden Knights on Prudential Center ice, Sunday at 4:30 PM.
