1 A Familiar Face

Fresh off recording an assist in the Rangers’ 6-1 drubbing of the Hurricanes Wednesday, Brendan Smith will be back on the blue line playing against his former team tonight.

The 28-year-old was taken by Detroit with the 27th pick overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. In 297 career games with the Wings, Smith recorded 15 goals and 52 assists for 67 points.

2 A Lucky Bounce!

Mika Zibanejad continued his strong play to the start the season with a goal and an assist against Carolina Wednesday. The 24-year-old leads the team in points with 22 (11 goals, 11 assists).

His goal Wednesday had a tinge of luck to it, but no Ranger fan will be complaining!

3 Easy Kreider

Chris Kreider registered two goals in the rout against Carolina Wednesday and has benefited greatly since being reunited with Pavel Buchnevich and Zibanejad on the Blueshirts’ top line. The Rangers are 6-0-0 when Kreider scores a goal this season and the power forward has tallied five goals and two assists in his last 10 contests.

4 Too Fast, Too Furious

Jesper Fast joined Kreider in scoring twice against the Hurricanes Wednesday and has provided a spark to the Blueshirts’ bottom-six forwards. Since his return from injury, Fast has tallied 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in 17 games.
