1 First Place Up for Grabs

First place will be at stake tonight as this matchup pits the top two teams in the competitive Metropolitan Division against one another.

The Devils currently lead the division with 50 points (Capitals have 49) and also have two games in hand on Washington.

2 Going Back to Back

Deb Placey and Bryce Salvador look at how the Devils had to settle for a point after New Jersey was handed a 4-3 loss in overtime by the Sabres.

The Devils are coming off a 4-3 overtime loss to the Sabres last night at home, while the Capitals last played on Thursday.

New Jersey is 5-3-0 in the second game of back-to-back sets this season.

3 Last Time They Met

These teams played back on Oct. 13 in Newark, with Washington winning 5-2.

Taylor Hall and Kyle Palmieri scored for the Devils, while T.J. Oshie had two for the Caps.

4 MoJo Returns

Marcus Johansson returns to Washington, where he spent the first seven years of his career, for the first time tonight since being traded to New Jersey in July.

“It’s going to be fun with a lot of emotions involved,” Johansson said. “It’s going to feel a bit weird at first, but a lot of fun.”

5 Knock on Wood

Miles Wood scored the game’s opening goal last night, his 10th of the season.

He has 17 points in 36 games this season, which is the same amount he had in 60 games in his rookie campaign.
