Tonight marks the first meeting between these teams since the Jordan Eberle–Ryan Strome trade this summer. Strome was drafted 5th overall by the Islanders in 2011 and played four seasons in New York, while Eberle spent seven in Edmonton. Eberle has 11 points this season (four goals, seven assists) compared to five (two goals, three assists) for Strome.
The Isles are 5-0-1 at home this season and are an incredible 25-4-4 at Barclays Center against Western Conference opponents. However, one of those losses came against Edmonton last season in a shootout.
See the five helpers from Mathew Barzal that set an Islanders' rookie record for assists in a game.
Not too far behind Bailey is rookie Mathew Barzal, who has a five-game point streak himself. Barzal has 13 points in his last nine games and is coming off a sensational five-assist night in Saturday’s win.
The Islanders are averaging 3.79 goals, good for third in the NHL. They have scored at least three goals in eight straight games and have scored in 17 straight periods, their longest streak since 1992!
