1 First Look at Sami

Devils fans will get to see defenseman Sami Vatanen for the first time tonight, as he is expected to make his debut after being acquired via trade from Anaheim Thursday.

Vatanen, 26, had one goal and three assists in 15 games with Anaheim this season.

2 Devils Get Their MoJo Back

There will also be another new addition to the lineup, as Marcus Johansson is expected to return after missing 13 games due to a concussion.

Johansson has five points (three goals, two assists) in 10 games this season.

3 Last Time They Met

These teams squared off in Newark for New Jersey’s season-opener back on October 7 with the Devils winning 4-1.

Rookies Will Butcher (three assists) and Jesper Bratt (one goal, one assist) led the way for the Devs.

4 Friendly Return?

Speaking of Butcher, this will be an emotional game for him as this marks his first NHL game in Denver.

Butcher led the University of Denver to the NCAA title this spring and was actually drafted by the Avalanche in 2013, but spurred them to become a free agent over the summer.

Expect a mix of cheers and boos for the talented rookie.

5 Road Warriors

The Devils have excelled on the road this season and own an 8-2-2 record away from The Rock.

They lead NHL in road points with 18.

6 Battle of No. 1's

Tonight’s game will have five first-overall picks on the ice:

Erik Johnson (2006), Taylor Hall (2010), Nail Yakupov (2012), Nathan MacKinnon (2013) and Nico Hischier (2017).

However, only two (MacKinnon and Hischier) were selected by their current team.
